Metal Clicking when accelerating??

I have a 2018 Expediton that i have had at the dealership 9 times with a metal clicking sound that happens intermittently usually when accelerating and can happen up to 60 mph, also only on driver side. The dealership is telling me nothing wrong with it, no codes, and normal but can literally sound like a jack hammer outside fo the vehicle at times.

If you have 4WD - you probably have a leak (or a defective check valve) in the IWE (independent wheel engagement) system, allowing the system to attempt to engage / disengage when accelerating.

It can sound like a ratcheting noise - similar to bending the ends of an aluminum can back and forth.

Find a different dealer.

Its the IWE. My wife is going in for this for a second time.

When yours does it, slap it into 4wd and it will immediately silence it.

Its either a vacuum leak or a faulty parts. Replace the IWE. Theres a bulletin on this, your dealership must be real idiots. My local dealer stocks these parts because all the F150's are coming in with the exact same complaints and they are replacing many each week.

That is exactly what it is. Mine had the same issue the first night I had it. Fixed it the next day at dealership

Interesting, once heard the same thing. Only during fairly aggressive acceleration.
