Mice getting into truck and moisture on wet days

Last Winter (our wet season) I noticed the inside of my windshield and windows were fogged up and sometimes dripping wet. I made sure I switched off the HVAC when parked. But, it was still wet inside.

Now I find evidence that mice are inside the truck. I just put some bait out for them and I will get some sticky traps. I'm wondering though if maybe they blocked open a vent somewhere? Perhaps that's why the moisture keeps getting in.

Where can I check to see where mice might be getting into the truck? Thanks!

check and see if the carpet is wet anywhere, do you have a sunroof, make sure the drains for that are clear. the mice may be comming in because of the moisture. look in the heater box for a mouse nest.

Had them get in my 95 Camry a few years ago. I wondered why the ac blower got loud? they had the squirel cage full of pink insulation lol, and about 6 months ago i saw a crushed up acorn in the trunk, set a old school snap trap with some peanut butter on it and captured him the next day

I put out bait and I will get some sticky traps.

But, what troubles me is how do I find where they are getting in? I have a factory manual and can't locate any pics or info whatsoever as to where the body vents are located. There can't be that many places they could get in. But, all the possible places seem to be very hard to get to just to check.

BTW, I don't have a sunroof.

It may be a coincidence, but just the other day when I started the truck I heard a loud clicking noise coming from behind the radio. I believe it is the blend door actuator. Either it has worn out prematurely, or perhaps the mice have partially blocked the door and jammed it.

If they are nesting anywhere in the ducts or HVAC, it is a health hazard as the germs are blowing out all over me and the inside of the truck every time I turn on the system.

Worst of all, it seems the only way to check or repair is to PULL THE ENTIRE DASH, drain the cooling system, and evacuate and disconnect the A/C! Is there any easier way to gain access to clear a nest out?

I can see myself going through all this and then the mice just come back and do it again. This could be a nightmare. . .

It's in a paved driveway.

I think I found the source of both problems. I had taken out my 2nd row middle seat because it got stuck in the upright position and I needed to haul some plywood. I put the bolts back in the holes thinking that would seal it all back up.

But, there is a sizable hole in the floor next to one of the front bolts on the drivers side. There is a gap below it and more sheetmetal so it doesn't look like a hole through to the outside. But, if you look just right at night with a flashlight you can see it leads to an open space that leads to a hole to the outside. I can see right through to the underside of the truck! Stupid me for not noticing it before.

I will wait until daylight and plug that hole with steel wool taped over with duct tape. If a mouse gets trapped inside, I will catch him on a sticky trap. That should do it.

The only problem will be if the mouse is indeed nesting inside the dash somewhere. Then I will have to set traps until I get them all and somehow deal with removing the nest -- if I can find it.

It seems I brought all this on myself. Lesson learned!!

I have a mouse problem also. In my Expedition and Super Dury pickup.

I have placed a bag of moth balls on the battery in the Expy (where I saw the mouse poop.)

I also put dryer sheets under the 3rd row seat where they were building their "home". Haven't seem any signs of them since.

In the pickup, mothballs are in the area by the a/c plumbing under th hood and dryer sheets in the glove box. Agsin still no mice.

Now if I can just get my pickup running again. Waitng for a rebuilt FICM. Go to love the 6.0 Powerstroke. - NOT!
