Middle courtesy lights no longer work. Did I break them?

So my little efforts to update my truck keep hitting snags.

Today I started replacing all the bulbs with leds. I broke one of the map light which my was stupid fault. I then went to change out the bulbs in the middle section courtesy domes. I got the lights out and replaced with new bulbs and neither work. I put back in the original bulbs and they don't work either now.

Any ideas on what I could have done?

It doesn't make a lot of sense. The only thing that I can think of is to check the fuses. Some LEDs are polarized and if you put them in the wrong way you just have to turn them around.

That's about it right there^^

And all leds need to be installed in the correct +/- orientation because they are a diode. Think of it as a check valve for electricity and only flows 1 direction

Thanks, both. I turn the new LED's around and they work fine now. I feel a bit dumb but it was an easy fix.

The map light is broke though but I was a bit aggressive with that one.

We all make those kinds of mistakes. It's how we get to be old and wise.

I replaced all my interior lights with LEDs as well. Glad yours work without blowing fuses. My biggest concern is always breaking the cheapy plastic light covers. But what a difference in the quality of interior light over the OEMs!

So we all agree and understand the LED polarity root cause, but his above statement leaves me scratching my head. Did the BCM detect a fault and temporarily kill power to these sockets?

Side note - Tried LEDs in my truck a few years ago. They didn't slowly fade on/fade off when a door was opened or closed. Understood the LED needed the full 12v to work and would be off when the truck stairstep delivered 6, 8, 10 volts. (totally making up numbers, but you get the gist)

So I went back to the stock incandescent bulbs..... With that, is the theater style/gradual on/off feature worth giving up to you guys? Or have 12V automotive LED's evolved? I know for home 120V bulbs, dimmer compatible LED is usually more $.

The LED bulbs I used come on when I unlock the truck and dim when I close the door. They were just a cheap set from amazon.

I replaced the gradual on/off interior lights in my wife's '15 Toyota Venza with LEDs. They worked fine with gradual on/off. What I bought for her car was not overly expensive. Technology is getting better all the time. Just have to test polarity with each one before re-installing the covers.

Silly "sneaky" cop model functionality is kinda annoying since i dont need it to stay off

If it is the same as the police interceptor vehicles, it is a setting that only the dealer can change.

Not sure. My police SUV (Explorer) was built incorrectly set to having the interior lights come on with the doors opening. The dealer reprogrammed it to change it.

Theres sets from JDM Astar on Amazon that you can insert in either direction, no polarity needed

No in not inagining things, i tried em hooked up to a 9v battery, and either direction worked.

I have been reading about those. They are getting smarter with the technology. I am not sure how they do it but it must be on the built-in circuit board.
