Hello All,
I have been searching the forums for about a month trying to find resolutions to my current issue. I have an 08 XLT EL with about 199,000 on it. I purchased this with high miles and it was a fleet from what my research could find. I have had it about 6 months and one day at a stop sign, had all kinds of misfires, and died 2 times. Was not able to get it to run correctly until about 8 hours later. After researching found it could be the VCT’s. Removed and installed 2 new Motorcraft VCT’s, and after this I noticed that when I would place the truck in gear after warming up it would start to misfire. If I place it back in park, or in neutral no issue. Did some more research and someone suggested seeing if holding the rpm up would help. If the truck drops below around 600 or so it starts to present a misfire very bad. From reviewing mode 6 data on the Blue Driver I purchased it is back and forth. Sometimes it will catch misfires on cylinders 1, 3, 5, or 8. Other times even when it is noticeable almost to a stall the scanner does not seem to pick up anything. It will sometimes show an Oxygen sensor issue, most of the time not though. I am looking for any help or advise that the community may be able to offer. Also I do not have a garage, and it is currently about 10F outside which limits my ability to instantly work on the truck. I had originally thought maybe the COP was making bad contact, so I removed all COP and used dielectric grease with no change. Another note is while the engine is cold it does not present, only when warm, and it never throws a code or MIL. I have also ran 2 cans of seafoam to see if there could be an improvement of fuel injectors. I have included 3 recent and different mode 6 reports if you can identify anything. As I am getting differing reports I am not even sure if this works correct or not, or if there is something that I should be specifically looking for. Any ideas?
Thank you,
