I have a 2003 4.6 2 wheel drive Expedition. I have what seems to be a misfire under slight acceleration anywhere from 1000 to 2000 RPMs no Cel no codes no pending codes does anyone know what scan tool can show misfire accounts that is somewhat reasonably priced I have a snap on guy but I do not intend on spending $5,000 on a Solas just not in my budget. Or any other ideas to find the misfire without unplugging coil packs as I don't like putting unspent fuel into my cats more than it already is. Misfires at no other times engine is not running rough at idle

How many miles on the expy?

Have you ever removed the throttle body and cleaned out the exhaust ports in the TB
There are good videos on you tube about the above cleaning.

Hundred and thirty-eight thousand miles haven't had time to do anything with the throttle body. I guess the spark plug of the cold pack finally gave out and I have a constant misfire with a service engine light on cylinder number eight doing the coil pack and spark plug if possible tonight

only tip I would say Take your time and make sure you torque the plug to the correct spec.
Place some dialect grease on the wire inside of the boot

Also as I stated earlier clean the throttle body The 4,6 engine has two small ports that go thru he TB and the tend to get clogged whereas the 5.4 has one large port and is less prone to clogging

Problem solved after 2 coil packs. Didn't know these were numbered passenger 1234 driver 5678. Replaced 4 and thought is was 8. Lol. I work on mostly gm blocks as I am a boat mechanic. Time to brush up on my vehicle skills.

Also Passenger side is referred to as BANK 1 and Drivers side is BANK 2

You may want to consider replacing the remaining plugs If they are as old as the ones you removed it may not be long before they start giving problems
