Installed two upper control arms in my 2008. They are horrible, dirty Chinese sand castings, but all that were available on short notice. The original ones had cracked boots but the bushings were still fine. I was replacing the springs and shocks,so now was the time.
After wire brushing the sand off the castings, the first problem I encountered was with the grease fittings. They would not pass grease. No amount of pressure would put grease through them. Assured ball joint destruction. I replaced them with real grease fittings and added grease.
The second problem is trying to set caster. The geometry of the control arms is so poor it's virtually impossible to set caster on the truck and the wheels wander from side to side with no intention of returning to straight driving down the road.
I should have chucked these when they looked like they were cast in someone's back yard. Now I have no choice than to wait on a set of Motorcraft replacements, remove the springs again and throw this junk in the rubbish.
Money wasted, lesson learned. Moog is just the same rebranded $12 Amazon garbage, sold in pretty boxes for ripping off Americans and anyone else trusting the import crap.
