My gas mileage is getting ridiculous. Seems like my truck is getting WAAAAY less mpg than it did only weeks ago. Haven't made any changes to the vehicle besides regular maintenance. Any ideas? Haven't had a tune up in a while...
Thanks in advance..

are you calculating your mpg every tank? has your driving style changed at all or type of driving? any more idle time then normal?

these are all big impacts on MPG. in the summer i can get a consistent 11-12mpg mostly in city. winter my avg MPG's drops to about 8.5-9.5mpg but to running 4x4, idle time..ect.

if its out of nowhere then somthing could have went bad..ect when was the last set of spark plugs? is it running good?

Mine usually reads between the 7 - 9 mpg. But it's always just little trips back and forth to work. Highways I can be up to 15 some times.

Check the MAF sensor it can cost ya some mpg. Just clean it with some carb cleaner see if that helps. I was averaging 12.5 mpg with mine then I cleaned the MAF and and now I'm at 13.5 mpg same driving. Plus I drive a light foot at or near posted speed limits. Check your air filter 2 if you haven't already done that but I'm sure you have.

I am the original owner of a 1997 EB expedition. Bought the truck to tow a large boat but the stock market took that away. I have extremely low low miles on this rig and have never had a tune up. My miles per gallon has not changed since I first took the keys. 9.5 MPG with all small city driving with not much stop and wait. 7.9 MPG same conditions only in winter with snow. Maybe 14.5 long trip highway. I do change the fuel filter though. Still love the truck!
