Hi, just in the market for buying an expedition and have questions. First I'll start by saying I already own a 98 Eddie Bauer explorer, pretty much loaded but stock. I've grown attached to the multi function display because of the miles per gallon, miles driven, miles to empty, gallons used, gallons to empty, and all the other 20 things it tells me.

Does the expedition have this display? If so, where do they put it, because I don't see it in any interior pictures.

Also, is there an option for an automatic/electronic climate control? The eddie bauer explorer lets you choose a temperature and also control it from the steering wheel, but so far every expedition I've seen has the standard dial type manual climate controls.

I'd like to figure out which model comes with these options so I know what to shop for.

Thanks

JOE

Yep, I 95% believe all model years have that feature, for the ones without Dual climate control it displays Outside temp, Average Gas Mileage, Odometer, Miles to Empty, Direction (in the rear veiw mirror before 03), and all the other bells and whistles it comes with.

If not, you can always buy them :) At least I always see the automatic climate control on ebay, though not sure if it's just plug and play? I also see the computer on ebay, though don't know if it needs to be programmed by the dealer...

BTW, the display would be in the message cluster, where the odometer is.

Oh it's in the instrument cluster... ok, I'm used to it being in the center console by itself where the expedition has that huge cup holder/storage bin. I looked some more and saw a few digital climate controlled expeditions, still didn't see one with a trip computer though.

I know the expedition is a real nice upgrade from the explorer, so I figured it would have that stuff, just hadn't seen it yet. Just so I know what to look for, which expedition models are there, and which model is the premium vs. middle vs. low end? As in, Limited, Eddie Bauer etc. Do certain models come standard with leather and full power interior?

Eddie Bauer is the best for power everything and leather everything or king ranch for even better

XLT - Basic
Fx4 - Off Road set-up XLT (combined with XLT in 03)
XLS - 06 Basic
Eddie Bauer - wider rims and lots of amenities
King Ranch - Eddie Bauer+ basically
EL - Extra long/Extended Length, can be applied to any 07+ sub model

I think that's accurate but I'm really only an Eddie Bauer aficionado.

The older King ranches might've had an El option but that's about it I think, it was a new platform, new chassis, basically a whole new SUV in 07.

You forgot the Limited trim model. :)

Not sure what becomes standard at what trim level, though a copy of a brochure would probably help. All I know is the Limiteds are color matched everything with black headlights, the EBs have the beige lowers, while the XLT/XLS will have the plastic trim.
