Navigation restrictions are plain stupid IMO.

I get it. Ford doesn't want drivers crashing while trying to program their NAV at 60mph. However like many families my wife is in the car and should be able to access it freely without having to have me pull over or drive less than 25mph.

Any after market way around this? I haven't had a lot of time to play around so to be fair Im not sure of what is really limited on the NAV but any limitations in my opinion are overzealous.

I have their Nav unit in my dash too, but don't use it. Why? Because I have a Garmin that is very intuitive and twice as easy to use.

The Garmin also does not allow you to use it if the vehicle is moving - "but" in the Garmin's menu there is a page where you can opt out of the "can't use it while you are moving" restriction. I have not tried to find this option on my Ford's GPS as I found the Ford GPS to be user unfriendly - so I use the Garmin exclusively. But maybe somewhere in the Ford GPS's built in menu there is the option to turn the don't use it while you are moving restriction off, like there is with the Garmin unit?
