Hi all, Hope everyone is enjoying their Expy's. I just bought a 2003 EB, and it has a few issues the seller hid quite well.
I had a check engine lite issue, no biggie went to ADvance used their tester and had bad 2-2 O2 sensor. that is until I went to rplace both downside sensors and found the previous owner had cut thru 2-2 and threw away the terminal end. after several hours of frustrtaion searching for an 03 wiring schem. I finally hit motors manuals and got the wiring dia and was able to use a universal bosch with terminal splice kit to install. I ran the truck for 10 minutes and no code but tomm I will run her for a good while and check again.
This EB has an aftermarket prestige alarm system,( I have no manuals for the alarm or the truck) So I am going with a deaf ear and blind eye.
The interior lights will stay on and time out when you exit the truck at nite but when you disarm the alarm system and unlock the doors for entry the interior lights won't come on. Also if you exit the truck the radio will continue to play long after the thirty second timeout for the alarm. Also the door ajar system is not working at all.
Based on the O2 sensor being cut through I am guessing this truck had door ajar issues and the previous owner some how has disconnected the interior light circuit and the door sensors circuit to stop the door ajar issue. My question is where do i start to look? I want it right, but where to start? Do I start pulling door panels to see if the sensors have been cut out of the doors? The alarm system is set to passive 30 sec. time out, so the doors don't have a interferrance in the alarming. Ideas anyone??? I shot all the latches good with WD and will attempt to see if it fixed anything tomorrow.
Where is the controller that does all the timing magic for the interior lights and the door ajar circuit? thanks red423

I will look for it. I still have the 2-02 code issue with the check engine light so I tried unsucessfully to go to a junk yard and find a 5.4 03, to buy the sensor female harness so I could splice wire for wire on the #2 sensor but no luck at all, I have a wiring diagram but I can't tell what side of the sensor what wire goes to as there is no connector just bare wires. I did get ripped 200 for a left rear door motor and regulator with two vent window motors, so I am guessing I am on the right track putting some TLC back into the truck.
I'll keep checking the wiring for how this prestige alarm is wired, anybody got a way to turn this crap alarm to non passive?? I can't stand the 30 second timing issue and the stupid web site for prestige says "we don't print manuals so see your dealer, well the dealer is the one I think wired it wrong from the get go. anyway my windows all work now, got new tires, next up is that pesky engine lite, are there any good ford junkyards online that can pull parts and ship???? thanks red423

VSM and data center

What information exactly does the VSM module transfer into the message center? If the message center does not show door ajar, nor interior lights, and a whole range of other things is it because of a bad VSM??
Is it wise to buy a used VSM? or does it matter? Still waiting on wiring schem. from ebay, but without a service manual from ford (which I didn't order) I am guessing on the features of the message center and where all the data is from for center.
The prestige alarm works but it was never wired into the door sensor circuit, also I found a vibration sensor that was never hooked up to the prestige, found a wire connection diagram for the prestige but not related to an expy, I am still trying figure out how to remove it once I fix the OEM keyless entry.
As far as I can tell so far, between a monsoon and a hurricane bearing down on So Florida,(whoopee dooo) my VSM has no power, got a fuse breakdown and will check all fuses, when the rain decides to stop.
I could use a little help here as the manuals down to advance and auto zone, really suck, thnaks red423
