hey everyone. So I need some help choosing tire size. I've got a 16 Plati EL with Readylifts 3/2 kit on it. I plan on keeping OEM 20s and I know their site says kit will allow up to 35x11.50. I've heard some people have had issues with this size rubbing the power running boards. Want a little bit taller and wider tire, any thoughts? I was thinking 295/60/20 or 305/55/20

You CANNOT do 35x12.5 with the factory wheels and the Electric Running boards, I repeat You CANNOT do 35x12.5 with the factory wheels and the Electric Running boards. Some people have had issues with 35x12.5, and factory 20's with no Running boards. They needed to trim. It is the combo of backspacing, and width of the tire. You can fit a 35, just has to be a skinny 35.

I guess thts why they say 35x11.50. Think that 1" will be enough to avoid rubbing and trimming with OEM +44 offset

Ok
I did the same lift with 33/12.50/20 Toyo MT on stock wheels and it rubbed ever so slightly at full lock with power running boards. When I put 1" spacers it made it slightly worse.

I have 275/60/20 now. No rubbing.

Only rubbed running boards?

Any pictures with either or both sets of tires?

I have a 2016 King Ranch with 3.73 gears. Looking at a Traxxda lift, which is 2.75" front, 2.25" rear. I also want a taller tire. None of this is for looks. All for elevating the vehicle so I don't get stuck in soft sand at the beach. I had a 2" Daystar lift on my 2003 FX4 and it made a world of difference.

So, I'm debating tire size. Thinking about 275/65/20, which would be an inch taller than the ones LimitedEX put on. Interested in seeing your pictures. Also interested in anyone who can tell me whether towing with the taller tires will bring me back to where I would be with 3.31 gears, or better or worse.

I have 18" wheels, not 20s, but I am running 285/75R18, which is 34.8" tall and 9" wide at the tread, with no rubbing anywhere, but I don't have power running boards either.
A 275/65-20 would be 0.7" shorter and 1/2" narrower at the tread. Doesn't seem likely it would rub.
As far as gearing, my math shows running a 34.1" tire would be roughly the gearing equivalent of stock tires and 3.49 gears.

I’m either going 305/55/20, 295/60/20, or 295/65/20

A 1 inch taller tire will only give you 1/2" of extra ground clearance. Seems hardly worth the change.
True, but time for new tires, and if I lift it, I can fit it. I just don't want to ruin my towing ability. Also don't want wheel wells to look empty!

So, if the math above is correct, 3.49 is still better than stock 3.31 but not as good as 3.73 for towing, so that answers my question. Thank you. Can you teach me how to do the math, AllBoost? Edit--NM, found a calculator.

For off-pavement capability, pretty sure the textbook answer is small wheels beefy tires....

Raptors come with what, 315/70r17 or so?
