Hi everyone, I just bought a 97 Expedition xlt. Runs pretty good but doesn't seem to have the power I thought it would on take off. My question is on the coil packs, there is a wire on each one on the side of the coil pack, neither side is hooked up. I have no clue what it's for. Anyone know what it is? Thanks.

have attached a copy of the wiring for the coil packs for the 4.6 engine I think the wire you are referring may be for the radio noise capacitor Check to see if the color of the wire is red/light green

Thanks Bedrck46. The male plug is red wire, female plug looks like black wire but it's hard to tell.picture.jpg

those wires can be connected they are for the radio noise capacitor.

Each coil pack will have the same set-up

If your coil packs were messed up you'd know it. The engine runs really rough and beyond sluggish when one of them lets go. I just had to replace one.
