I have the OE Navi/Sync system and am looking to get more bass out of the sub. Does anyone know if there is a separate amp for the sub and if it may have a gain dial on it? I know my Pontiac had such an adjustment.

If not, what would be the easiest way to achieve more bass? Will a better quality subwoofer work or will I need to also add an amplifier?

I am pleased with all other aspects of the stereo. It just needs more oomph for when driving with the windows down.

theres a amp on it but its only 40-60 watts...so you will defenitely need to upgrade the speaker and amp...or you could just add a 8-10-12 in sub with it...unless you have space constraints...

With the Expedition EL LTD you have I doubt size is an issue. That does give you alot of options for what you want to replace the stock on with adn hide behind the massive panels out back.

I would find someone to build you a box and replace the factory stuff.

I have taken the panel off to check it out....forget replacing the stock sub...its tiny, crappy, dual 1.7ohm i believe....

You can easily fit a small space 10 or 12 in a custom box behind the panel, its fairly angular so i think you might be able to do it without even glassing (all mdf)

get a down firing box and put a 10 or 12...or 2-10's or 2-12's in the back...i have 2 kicker cvr's in a down firing box and i can still put stuff on top...i.e groceries, luggage

In my old truck mind you, I has 3 speakers, 2 door speakers but under the back seat was one 10 inch type x (alpine) hooked up to a 1000 watt Rockford fosgate (can't remember the model it got stolen) had it at 2 ohms.
It'd put folks to shame suprinsingly enough.

Quality over quantity.

My sub adventures as.follows, bout a pionner sub, box, amp and wiring off cl. Blew 3 subs, bought a type x, type x killed the amp, got the Rockford, they both killed the box wiring.

Save your money and do it right.

At the time I was in for almost 600 for the sub and amp, 200 for head unit, 180 for door speakers, sounds amazing

Thanks guys!
A box or anything in the open will not work. I traded a truck in for the Expy, and thus use the Expy as one. I use it for tailgating, carrying light lumber, and for carrying boxes of goods back and forth. So, I do actually use all the cargo capacity.
I will ned to find something that will fit in the current enclosure.
I did see there is a box on crutchfield that fits in the same space as the sub. But it is around $800 and still needs a sub.

Think this then, low profile, slim subs, put them under you front seats there like an 8-10 inch sub but only 2-3 inches thick. By about 16 "L and 12" W

Like a text book with a sub and and a couple dials.

Throw in a line out converter and a power and ground, distribution block if running two. Bam done, there about 80- 150 watts a pop
