Bio:
Ford has always been a name in the family. I have a '97 Cobra convertible in the garage, and the company vehicle is a 2010 Transit(no comments on that one:).

I came from an Explorer. 2nd owner, '96 Limited, with everything. After 150,000 miles, and road salt, nature was not being nice to it. We departed reluctantly just a hair over a year ago. I searched for a new Explorer, a 2011 was well within my budget. But it seems to Ford, the Explorer was expendable!

A new 2010 Expedition EL was in the right price range but a few months ago, I noticed new 2011's starting to fall into my range. Called a few dealerships around the country and by the time I had a price I wanted, the options I wanted were no longer available :-(

A local dealership offered something no one else(of 7) dealerships tried. $8,000 off sticker, and custom order it right out of the factory. This has been a 1 month wait that was well worth it.

Picked up my beauty on Monday evening, the 3rd. Sterling grey Limited EL. With Navi, rear bucket seats, and without DVD. I was a bit dismayed at the headrest DVD option. I could just buy $250 seat bags with DVD players.

I have not regretted my choice one minute. Although, I am only down to 3/4 a tank and just broke the 100 mile mark on the odo today..it's still early

I am hitting google pretty hard. I have been driving it around town every day trying out a different feature/function. There are so may goodies, I just realized today that I haven't even taken it out of 2WD.

Does anyone lower their Expedition? Not talking about fender rubbing. Seems everyone wants BigFoot parked in their front yard. This beast already sits up so high when people walk by the have to duck under the side mirrors.

I have many more posts to make here with questions about assorted future mods, and "what's this?".

I created an Album and added one photo. I took it the next morning on my way to work. I haven't had time to get any other photos. The dealership took one of me and the truck that night for their facebook page.

I added a dealership photo and then created a second album for my past/present vehicles.

I can't believe how windy it was when I took the facebook pic for the dealership. I had to prop myself up against the truck to keep me from being horizontal in the pic :)

Welcome Walt. Well if you get it high enough you wont have to duck under them. I can walk right under mine.

welcome...do you have any mods planned?

I always plan a lot. Then finances get in the way :) I would love to get a custom air ride. My old Explorer had one stock and it was really nice. However it was not customizable by the driver. You had to trigger certain presets.

This time when the Expedition is off and a door opens, I want it to drop 3". After start up I want the truck up to a normal ride height.. probably stock height. Highway speeds would lower it 1 to 2".. and 4x4 low would max the height.

Then a tune of some sort, ram air, computer between the rear buckets, solar panel(s) on the roof, high gain WiFi.

I had a list and was just going off memory.. I priced a push bumper to mount some driving lights since I do a lot of country highway driving, at night. I just started looking instead into low profile HID lights that fit above the lower grill.

I also wanted to do the custom air ride, versus OEM, so I can use an air tank for real tools, and a Nathan Airchime horn :)

is this suppose to happen as soon as the door opens and start immediately upon start up? im digging the drop idea...timer...switches...sound like work and $$$$...nice setup for it to be automatic...

It would probably be tied into the running boards. When in park and off, the truck is lowered completely. When in reverse-drive it raises back up to operational height. Not sure how to set a speed limited timer. The DVD player turns off after 3-5mph. That thing knows some how.

I am pretty sure the OEM air system probably already does all that. Unless it is dumbed down to leveling only? Might be able to get the control module and move the outputs to an aftermarket air system?

The air setup is the $$$$.. since all 4 corners are coil over shocks. A lot of work would be the programing presets. And not have it hopping down the road all of a sudden :)
