Hi all, just picked up an 03 Eddie Bauer with 78k on the clock from a local stealership. Black with tan leather and the gold body cladding. Going from a Honda CR-V to this due to family, needing to haul stuff occasionally and I have one full grown English Mastiff as well as two 10 week old Mastiff brothers so the CR-V was def. not going to cut it haha.
Originally was dead set on a Navigator but after test driving both, I could not justify paying another $3-5k when this thing has everything I want, does not feel like it is lacking power with "only" 260hp vs the 300 on the Nav and newer Expos etc...
There are a few things it needs that I've already researched on here, nothing major though. Typical older Expo stuff. Body is almost flawless, paint looks factory new, interior is in very good shape. Everything works and it has every option except the satnav and rear entertainment which is fine because the stock units are terrible and would get replaced regardless. Motor pulls hard and trans shifts smooth.
Plans for this are to fix whatever turns out to need fixing in the next few months as I always do with used vehicles. Rear AC fix was never done so that is first on deck, then I'll probably go through the axles and U-joints. Obviously ALL the fluids as well as carefully doing the spark plugs. I do all my own work so costs will be kept down. Then I'll start with simple bolt ons after doing some more research. Cold Air if it'll benefit from one, full exhaust, electric fan, biggest trans cooler I can find, pullies and at some point a quality satnav and rear entertainment. Have also been looking at used Lightning supercharger setups, this is one reason I'm not dissapointed that I have the older 2V vs the 4V Navi or newer 3V since those don't work with the swap.
