I am new to Expeditions and this forum but not to working on cars. I bought a 99 Expedition off a coworker who has owned it since new. Other than a small dent it is in nice shape. I have always owned a four wheel drive vehicle until last winter when we purchased a smal commuter car because my drive to work went from ten miles to just over two hundred round trip. Well the few snow days I had to deal with were miserable. No more blasting through
the piles left by the plow,no looking for unplowed roads etc..I decided not again this winter and started the search a month ago. I was originally looking for a full size Bronco to replace one we used to have and loved. After not finding anything we really liked we fell into this 99 Expedition EB. The seating for Eight is great and I love the room. Wish I could drive it everyday but the wife does while I have the commuter car.
I found this forum because the day after we bought it the four wheel drive stopped working. I did a little research and assumed the transfer case motor was bad and it was rusted almost through. I replaced it and pulled both of the speed input sensors to make transfering the wires easier. That way I would just have to put the brown wire in the connector under the vehicle.
I noticed on was cracked so I got two new ones from ford. They were able to get them same day. I put them in (after a run to the car lot cause I forget to write down where each one went and they look similar except wire colors and looked under a 99 EB there to see). I took a picture this time so I could write something up to help out others in the future. I got everything back together. The four wheel drive works and the Auto AWD is working correctly.
Nice when a repair is under 200.00 to take care of. I plan on spending some time reading and getting up to speed. Look forward to some great posts from this group.

Welcome

I am relatively new myself and found some great help/ideas. I do know a guy on base who does a great job of keeping up his Expy. So if no one here can help, I will ask him. That is a long commute.
