New steering column, electronic issues now

I had to replace the steering column in my 97 Expedition but after that my wipers gauges and windows didn't work unless you push down on the door unlock button. Is it possible to get a steering column that has a short in it? Seems odd that the unlock button being pressed would maker everything work. HELP!

Is the new column same year. It's possible the new column has plugs that are wired different, causing your issues. Your going to have to play detective, and start pulling each plug until you find your short. Compare the old column with the new.

I found my problem. A ground wire inside the plastic cover next to my emergency brake had rusted so badly I had to put a new end on it and screw it into a fresh spot. Pretty simple. Check your grounds!
