new tires

At the moment i have p265-70-r17 tires on but able to get a good deal on p285-70-r17 and was wondering if it would rub my frame since there a inch wider and taller to my knowledge. can anyone help out?

Shouldn't matter that small a change on this vehicle. Ive put 20mm larger tires on a subcompact without a problem. More than that - then we can start talking.

The easiest way is to have an assistant with you turn wheel all the way to left or right with tires you have on now, measure how much clearance between inside of tire and frame or whatever it might hit. Then add that 20 mm or 13/16 American to add a little extra, make sure theirs no interference.you can also do the same in rear, but just check for quarter panel possible rubbing on outside and frame or suspension inside. That small difference shouldn't be an issue. You still haven't said 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive. My 2000 Eddie Bauer has 285/50r20's on it. Mine is 4 wheel drive and never heard a rub once. Let us know what you find.

Oh yeah, forgot 1 more thing. With original tires on wheels, measure outside of tire to out of fender and quarter panel clearance. Your only adding 10mm half of the total 20mm of new tire. But always allow a little extra just in case. On these SUVs, I don't think your upgrade in size will be an issue, but better to find out now!
