Well let me tell ya'll our needs and maybe ya'll can steer me in the right direction because I know next to nothing about off road tires. We'll be driving both on and off road. Off road consisting of gravel, mud, sand, and fist sized rocks. I do not want to change the height of Expy (at least not at this point in time) and definitely don't want it to rub. I was leaning towards a 22 because I wanted a wider tire but what I hadn't thought about was that it would also be a thinner tire which would concern me when going through my uncle's ranch (fist sized rocks). That being said what are ya'lls thoughts and/or opinions?

You are crazy if you want 22s.....my 'offroad' includes fields/gravel roads (just country driving in Iowa) and I only do it occasionally - I take it slow as to not do any damage.

If there are truly fist size rocks the largest I would go is 20s...I would actually recommend a nice 18 with plenty of tire...last thing you want is to land off of one of the rocks and scratch a big rim. You can also get a much better on/off road tire at smaller diameter...at 22s all that is left is street tires that will do a bit of all season/M&S

I like both wheels pictured but actually prefer the stock ones. Probably because I'm getting old.

yeah...prob so...i love the HDs...but the 22's should be fine on the fist size rocks...after all...the HDs are on F150...and im sure FORD takes it through their tough terrain trail and passes...the 22's will have a stiffer side wall but you wont tell the diff between the 20's or 22's...you'll be good with 22's...maybe find an aggressive tire to put on there...TOO EASY!!!

Thanks for the input guys. Since this is the family hauler versus my personal toy, we'll probably go with the 20's since that's what the King Ranch has.

Oh not fast at all. It's over at my uncle's ranch so we just crawl over them nice and easy.

I agree with Eddiemoney. I wouldn't do 22's. Like Freeway said the 22's will hold up as long as your not going fast but the lack of tire provides less "protection" for the rim itself. A fist sized rock can do a decent amout of damage in the wrong situation. Just my opinion.

Are the rocks settled or loose? If settled I would do 2's...if loose...20's so they don't scratch rims...then again...are you doing chrome? Painted? Brushed? Then how often are you going there...I've been in some areas similar when I had 24's...and was fine...but its your comfort level...if you're not out there much...2's...lol...2's...22's!!! Lol good luck...NO PRESSURE

Nah, no pressure. The only pressure I have is my wife as she's pulled the reins tight on this one. The rocks are loose and I'd be going there about 2 months out of the year in total. I showed the wife how the Expi would look with 20's and 22's and she likes the 20's better.

Freeway, I showed hers your Expi and she said it looked nice but she's not letting me do that to ours. No worries though I still get to play with it a bit and give it that personal touch. I wonder what she would say if I tried to sneak in the 50 shot???

Ah, I thought you had lowered because of the reduced wheel gap so I mistakenly told her you had dropped it.

So the 04's came with air suspension? Didn't know that. Can you adjust the air suspension manually?

@eddiemoney, the HD wheels looks neat, but now that I've seen a 'before' photo, I actually like the stock ones better, haha.
