Hey, I have been on the other forum for a couple months and was given a friendly hint today that I might wanna check this place out. So if you don't know about me, I am in the army and work as a weapons instructor. I have been in for 10 years and have a wife and four kids and bought my expy to pull summer vacation duty since our main family ride (CX-9) is a little small to pack all the camping gear and bikes we need. Other than that I use my expy to get to work on days when I don't want to or can't ride my motorcycle.

MPRI or DynaCorp would be a great place for me to land once I get out of the military. The IPA's we had made great money for the amount of work they did. I wouldn't mind pullin' in $150K a year to show up for a mission brief and ride to the IP station and train police. Some of the IPA's we had only went on mission 1 or twice a week so they would live at the gym or lounge in their CHU for 5 or 6 days a week.

I lived on a FOB in Gardez as an ETT...we had SF and a small contingant of Dynacorp (they wern't called that then) on base with us. While we lived in tents and B-huts those cats had "condos" built and had flat screen TVs, direct TV, etc....the good life!

what do you ride?

What do you ride? I have a Valkyrie. With 6 cylinders only gets a little over 30 mpg but of course that depends on how I ride it.

I ride a Kawasaki Concours 14. I can get 40+ mpg if I am easy on it.

JD Mitchell,
That is one nice bike! Looks like you could go coast to coast! Did they get rid of the handlebar buzz of the old Concours?

I have grip puppies and 1.75 inch risers and I have no problems with buzz. I can do an 800 mile day and still want to keep riding except for the whole sleep issue. It is super fast and I can keep up with nearly any bike through the twisties.

I bet you can! I drooled over the Concours 14 in the bike magazines when it came out. The Valkyrie is an amazingly nimble beast considering its mass. The horizontally opposed six really has a low center of gravity. I really have to lean over to keep parts from scraping in the twisties though! Really comfy riding position for distance riding (for me) but I don't have the Interstate model with the big gas tank so the range is limited. Do you have a height adjustable windscreen?

Yup the windscreen moves about 4 inches steplessly, so I can put it where I need it. Around town or on back roads it is always down, but when I get on the interstate it is all the way up. I used to have a Suzuki M109R that was quite the bruiser. It had so much torque that it just ate rear tires like they were nothing. I miss that bike, but I know I will eventually be able to talk my wife into owning two bikes at once.
