Hey all. Just picked up a 2003 Eddie Bauer in pretty decent shape.

5.4, 2 wheel drive. 144k miles. Traded in my '01 and of course got low balled on it, whatever. I didn't want two trucks, two insurances and to bother with private party sale. I don't need that headache.

Of course for an '03 it has a few niggles I need some new door bump stops for lack of better description, but...

Brakes in great shape, 4 new tires, body and interior in nice shape but more importantly mechanically appears sound. I'm still going to have oil change done over the weekend and next week new plugs at least. Also need a new air filter. It was hotter than crap here in Texas and it didn't have any issues - took for extended test ride.

I liked my '01, but the '03 EB version ain't too shabby. I was gunnin' for '07 but not in the price range I was willing to pay. I just got laid off too. Lol. Might sound counter intuitive, but I needed to punt the last truck and get a slight upgrade since it's my only transportation. Paid in full, title coming. All for the low, low price of $3,300 (plus TTL - that always kills me).

Yahoo. I love these trucks. In about 2-3 years I'll trade up for newer again. Prob an '07 or newer.

That's a pretty good deal. It looks like it was taken care of anyway. I would recommend a synthetic 10w-30 oil and Motorcraft oil filter on it and it should last you another couple hundred thousand miles. Check the lower ball joints all the way around, and the inner tie rod ends for play and that's about it for the suspension. The fuel filter is easy to change. I would do that just so you know when it was last changed. ( Just push the blue buttons in to release the lines from the filter...). If the ball joint dust boots are torn it's time to change the ball joints. If you hear a clicking from the rear corners when you turn in the mornings that's the rear ball joint ( actually they're bushings...) worn out. Make sure the rear axle fluid level is topped off. I would get some kind of front seat cushion/cover/rug for the front driver's seat so it doesn't get torn up any worse, and some Weathertech floor mats to save the carpet.

Hey thanks Hamfisted.

I actually pulled the floor mats from my '01 I traded in. I also grabbed the bottle jack and tire iron - could be different size though on iron.

Lol, first, I know how to spell Bauer - title I screwed up on, sorry - I had a concussion a few weeks ago and slowly getting better.

last question:

the two piece part to lower the spare tire, I've been looking at online, but before I pull the trigger and order from Amazon, can anybody verify the part number here? I could not find.

Also where is the code for the door code on '03? The '01 was placed under the driver's side dash, but did not see one placed there.

So some douche took the scissor jack under the rear deck, along with the tool kit? ( it takes a bit of umpf to break loose 140 ft lb torqued lug nuts...). Is yours missing? Or maybe that's the "two piece" part you're asking about. This is the only part number I could find on the whole unit.
But I think that part number is really just for the plastic tray it all sits in.
