No A/C, speed control, or auto door locks

Have a funny problem. I will loose A/C compressor, spreed control, and auto locking of doors. It will occur as i drive down road. The problems will go away in time. Sometimes a day or so and sometime within an hour. Acts like a heat overload relay, thermistor, or something like that. Took car to dealer for repair and they wanted to tackle each problem as a separate item and not look at them in total. Needless to say they did not solve the problem.

Speed control? Also, what year do you have? Manual or EATC A/C? Are you loosing A/C but still blowing air, or no air is blowing?

No A/C, speed control or auto door locks.

It is a 1998 Eddie Bauer. The A/C is manual and will blow hot air during the problem. There might even be other outages that I am unaware of. For example, the right rear wing window will not operate. Not sure whether this was working before or not. Loosing the speed control is always the first indication that I have a problem. I have never had the problem occur without the speed control engaged.

I have been saying speed control, of course, it is cruise control. Pardon my old age...

Hah, seems the manual refers to it as "speed control."

Either way, from the looks of it, the AC and cruise control might be related, since they (or at least part of them) appear to share the same network. This is what is under fuse number 5:

Digital Transmission Range (DTR)
Sensor, Daytime Running Lamps
(DRL) Module, Speed Control
Servo/Amplifier Assembly,
Heater-A/C Control Assembly,
Blend Door Actuator, Electronic
Variable Orifice (EVO) Module

If only I had a wiring diagram, we might be able to see what wires are shared between them. The earlier I have is stuff for 2000 Expeditions. The 97-98 seem to be a bit different than the 99-02 Exyps. I take it you don't have DRLs, so that wouldn't be affected. The EVO is I think part of the power steering (more "help" at low speed, less "help" at higher speeds). No problems steering?

No problem steering. Did already check fuse 5 and it is fine. No, I don't have any electrical or any other kind of drawings. I thought about going around and tapping all the relays and seeing what might happen. At least those I could find.

Well. about to give up. Tapped relays, no success, also disconnected battery to see if cold booting the car would reset something. Alas, problem still exists.
