My passenger side door lock was acting "lazy" for a while. It wouldn't pop all the way up sometimes and you had to hit the open button on the remote or the switch inside the car several times to get it fully open. It seemed like the lock button / plastic rod was maybe binding a bit on the surrounding opening grommet. I sprayed some silicone down the hole and it seemed to help it open easier for a while. Now the lock won't respond at all to the remote or the inside door switch.

What likely broke and needs to be replaced? I don't mean to sound lazy, but I'm staying at a hotel since I sold my house (too) quickly and have to do the repair in a parking lot outside, need to complete the repair as quickly as possible while the door panel is off and I only have one car at the moment. Thanks!

It is always helpful if you post the year, make, and model of the vehicle in question.

The power door lock actuator assembly has failed and must be replaced.
