Drawbacks??

Cost?
Higher center of gravity?

I think many Expy owners have kids and such. A lifted truck cannot only be a bear for the kids to get up in but also makes it harder for mom & dad to buckle the littlest ones in and then there's the budget...

That said, I want to lift mine! :D

I agree with monsta about the family issues with a lifted truck......but it actually improves one's manners.

After I got my expy, I did the gentlemenly thing and helped my wife into the truck more often.

Of course, when going out she wears short skirts, but that is a different story...........;)

It's easier to turn a lifted Expedition into a convertible while entering a public parking garage.

Mine has a three inch body lift on it. I think it looks pretty good. So I also run bigger tires. About the equivalent of 33s.

On the prking garag thing though.... that is a pain. Can never remember (which is a problem in and of itself) but it seems like I need about 6'10" to fit. Although i did hit one of those hang down swing things that said 7 fott the other day.

You can always take the luggage rack off to gain a few inches. I had to do this in New Orleans to park once.

Anyway, I will try to find a picutre and post it.

I am seriously considering the Daystar 2" spring lift for us 03+ owners. I need a four wheel alignment anyway...

I just need a good tire and rim choice.

I am actually considering putting the 18"s from an 04 F150 on as long as I can find some used ones with the LT rated tires on them.

But I also would rather have chrome wheels....so the debate within my mind continues.

A real lift??

C'mon! It's the only lift I have to choose from for my 4 wheel Independant Suspension. Don't knock me fer it! ;)

On to your question...

If you install a lift at around 6" you shouldn't have too much to worry about. Make sure your angles are correct for the rear.

The biggest problem arises out of the poor choice of backspaciong some choose when they lift their trucks, regardless of brand or how the wheel is located and suspended.

Wide wheels that stick out the sides create a lot of unecessary stress on components and cause premature failure.

What size tires are you trying to run?

was just kidding on the lift thing dont take it personally! 2" lol

i was going to try to fit 35" on it with the 6" lift

also with a 4-5/8 backspacing, the main reason for making the tires stick out is du to the high risk of rollover in these suv's

they have a 2 star rating out of 5 stars , not good'
