I looking for a little help please, I have an 03 expedition. Last month, my wife and I where driving down the road and al of a sudden heard a whistling sound from under the hood, sounded like a vacuum leak. The trruck began loosing power and ideling rough, We got home and I popped the hood and noticed the hose to the EGR sendor had cracked. I replaced the hose thinking everything was fine, but now it's doiung the same thing, it has progressively gotten worse. I pulled the code on it and replaced one of the O2 sensors, the one below the first convertor on the passengers side, no luck still running like crap, I had a buddy look at it and he told me that the caddilac convertor had gone bad. so just trying to get rolling I cut off the convertor on the lower passengers side to see, still no luck, I pulled the codses again and it P0306, I think, either way I replaced the cylinder #6, plug and COP, still no luck, the truck does not run at all, cranks fine, but still has no power, going to straight I can get about 30mph, slows to a crawling halt going up hill... Anyone have any ideas, I am at a loss..... PLease help

Have you checked fuel pressure at the fuel rail? Or have you changed the fuel filter lately? Could try cleaning mass air flow sensor?

Any news on this? Mine is doing the same. I am replacing all the COPs and plugs today. It needed to be done anyway. I am worried that's not the problem since mine threw codes for 3 different cyl.

mine acted like that and it was the trans fuse #23 I think it's in the box under the hood and is in the front near the air filter end of the box.

After replacing the cops and plugs mine is running smooth as silk. I found out all the plugs were original and some were cracked. Some of the cops were all rusted too. I guess after 130,000 miles a tune up is a good idea. Some times I wonder about the POs
Now for the Gotts mod!

Check out my post under the f150 forum. Look under jeepfix. If while its running rough and you have an excessive fuel smell, its most likely a stuck fuel injector. We have an 05 expedition with 100k. Ford has an extended service call on this covering 100% of cost.

Cats

Had the same thing happen, had to replace both cats on the drivers side. Cost me $450 but cured the problem. Also noticed the a/c sopped when running rough.

I had this happen to my 03 Expy with the 5.4. I had the P0306 code. I was swapping the #6 cylinder coil with my #5 cylinder coil to see if I had a bad coil and I realized the bolt holding the coil on #6 was loose and the connection where the bolt goes through had become corroded. I cleaned it up and still swapped it out with the #5 cylinder and it runs good as new.
Everyone should check this before investing $$$$ into costly parts and labor.

If you have already removed the rear cat, unbolt and check the front one. If you have had misfire or bad air/fuel mixture, the front will catch it first and that is the one you will lose. I had the same problem recently and ended up replacing the front cats and deleting the rears. Ordered the cats from Eastern and had a local shop install, total cost was $200. Like others have posted earlier, check your fuel system first( pressure, filter, leaking injectors) and clean your MAF and TB. Good luck and keep us posted on progress.
