No sound from DVD player

Hi all,

I have the DVD player rear entertainment system in my '03 EB. When I got it the OEM radio had already been replaced with a Clarion, and there is a white stereo-miniplug emerging next to the radio that goes into the AUZ to provide sound for the DVD player for the kids. We had no headphones.

I've now bought a couple of pairs for the kids, but I'm not getting any sounds on them. I can see what looks like the IR LEDs next on the DVD console are lit up, but no sound.

Is it possible that when the AUX out from the DVD player was installed, it's now not outputting over the IR output to the headphones? There is no obvious change externally on the DVD player, so I'll have to open it up to see where the AUX lead comes from, something I don't really want to do.

Any ideas?

The headphones are Audiovox IR1CFF from Amazon, where a review says they work in an 05 EB, which I assume is pretty similar, if not the same as the 03.

I have that answer for you...
You will need to remove the DVD player. Its held in with 4 screws in the monitor housing, after that there are 4 metal clips that hold it in place.
What's happening is that the audio from the DVD is send to the center console and then back to the IR.
So what you need to do is (once you have the DVD pull down) look for a 20 pin harness.
From there you need to do a series of "loops"
wire color (number){dvd}---loop to---wire color (number) {IR}
White (5) Left + ------------------Red (7) Left +
Red (6) Right + ---------------- orange (8) Right +
Light Green (15) Left - --------- White (17) Left -
Black (16) Right - ------------- Pink (18) Right -

I know there are 2 red wires mention. If you look at the wire clip with the 'latch/lock' hook on top... you can see markings showing the number sequence.
if not count from upper right to left then start over from right with the lower row of pins. it should read like this.
10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1
20,19,18,17,16,15,14,13,12,11,10

Thank you for the instructions. Just last week I actually took the whole unit out, and had a look myself.

After a little more intense googling, I found the wires to cross, and soldered in some connections.

I'm happy to say it's all working perfectly.

Thanks again for your answer, I wish I had it a couple of weeks ago, would have saved me a lot of extra work.
