uggh. Two different shops have been unable to diagnose why my '99 expy has a tranny dtc that won't go away and my expy keeps stalling when I put it in reverse or at idle. Also the OD light on the shifter flashes incessantly. I read where someone on here has a similar problem but not close enough to consider it the same problem....any ideas?

Have you gone to a transmission shop or the dealer (I'd try the transmission place first)? Did the places you took it to have scanners that can read transmission codes?

Also, I keep reading of people just disconnecting their batteries to "clear" the code. For some, it clears it and never comes back. If it's a recurring problem, though, it will come back.

yeah, one of them was a trans shop, the other was just a general purpose repair shop. Both got the trouble codes but apparently it isn't specific enough to direct attention to the source of the problem. They changed some reverse switch and that didn't do it and now they are telling me to take it to an electrical specialist to maybe get a new computer.....I want a car with a carburator at this point.

I have heard the OD light flashing can be a sign that the trans is about to take a dump, or it can also be a switch or solenoid that needs replacing. I would have the dealer diagnose it, and if it is something you can do, just do the repair yourself.

Only thing that sucks is that it's usually like 60-70 for the dealer to diagnose something. Did the shops give you a code?

I feel stupid because I can't find the paper now that i wrote the dtc's on. I get my truck back tomorrow and then I'll know, but by then I'll also have it on the way to an electric specialist to look at the computer....my truck never used to break down at all but now it does and it never goes easy I tells ya.....

Had the same problem with reverse after tranny swap. Forgot to plug in speedometer sensor.
