Offroad experiences with your ride?

I was thinking of doing a road trip which involved alot of dune crossings. How does the Expedition handle
in the dunes? Should I be looking at a 2inch lift before even taking it offroad?
In regards to the 4x4 system how does it perform in sand? (prefer to find out before getting stuck i had a Pajero in the past and the ABS use to kick in and the vehicle would come to a halt so we needed to remove a fuse to stop the ABS working when offroad. Anything similar I need to look at?

I don't know about your generation Expy, but my ABS is disabled to play in the sandy mesa where we live. I have a limited slip diff though. If you're running an open diff you may have issues.
