Well, I came home and discovered a strange whining noise coming from my engine, pretty loud too. Thought it might be the power steering pump so I cranked the wheel in both directions with no change in sound. Tried reving the engine, no change in sound with the increased RPM. The whining is steady at any RPM. Any idea's? Update, went out and checked again this morning, the whining gets faster as the RPM goes up......

Since it varies with engine speed it can be any of the accessory bearings on the front of the engine.
Remove the serp belt and spin each pulley. It should spin smoothly without any "feel" to it. Check the ac, water pump, alternator, power steering pump, idler and tensioner pulleys.
