Oil Leak

Hello everyone my name is Lee I have a 1997 Expedition 4.6 Romero block. I have developed a oil leak. As far as i can tell its coming from the oil cooler lines. Does anyone know where I can buy the oil line for the factory oil cooler. Or can I use a after market oil cooler and after market lines. And the same for the tranny. Thanks for any help.

lee, this is just me speaking, but pull the oil cooler off of the truck and call it good. Go with the filter on the side of the block and call it good. Once you see how the oil cooler is plumbed, you will laugh and wonder what good it is doing. I removed mine off of my truck. Save yourself a lot of hassle.

If your oil leak is coming from the oil cooler lines at which they are bolted up to the cooler, then all may need is new o-rings. Take the lines off and check and go to your local auto store and buy a couple of o-rings. I would not disconnect the oil cooler and call it a day, leave it there and use it.

Hope this dosen't sound stupid but I have 2 B&M super coolers which are far biger than the factory cooler. Can I use one of them and do away with the factory cooler

I doubt the lines will work, may have to go with rubber hosing to plum it. I personally would just check the o-rings to cure your issue. Much simpler process than to re-plumming. But that is just me, and you may want to check the capacity of the Super Cooler, as you may need to adjust on your oil capacity.

I checked it and its the part at the end that holds the lines, its cracked. I think it could be when 2 pulleys seized up and the belt snapped and hit it. Or when the repair shop changed the pulleys. For I didnt have a oil leak before that. So my question is if i do away with everything thats factory ( plumbing no problem ) will i need any special fittings to put the B&M cooler in

That super cooler you have should except braided or rubber lines. If it does then you should be fine to just reroute your lines and have the cooler inline. If it were me, and I was going to install the cooler you have, I would relocate it up front away from the engine to get the most out of it and allow for it to use norma air temps instead of the engine heated air. But as I said, make sure your oil capacity does or does not need increasing if the super cooler is of a larger capacity. Last thng you want to do is starve the engine of oil as the new cooler you have maybe of a larger capacity.

I thought an oil leak was coming from my cooler lines also until I had a mechanic lift it all the way up and show me that it was being dripped on...
