Sold my other car yesterday and got in the Navigator to go home and the check engine light came on.

Went to Oreilly's this morning and had the code read. P0402

Did some internet searching and found most people said it's the DPFE sensor and probably not the EGR valve.

I went back to Oreilly's and got the sensor. I also wanted to connect the hoses that connect to the sensor but they didn't have them at any stores near me. So I just put the sensor on.

Anybody else had this error code? Was it the sensor or did you end up buying a new EGR valve too?

I had the same code. Be sure to check the hoses carefully my problem was that one hose had a hole burnt in it. There is something special about the hoses get them at the dealer I remember them not costing to much. You will get one piece of hose long enough to replace both of them.

I didn't clear the code when I replaced the DPFE sensor and the CEL went out today, after about 80 miles. YAY!
