Came home to the Wife saying she got a CEL after geting gas yesterday. Typical me figures she left the cap loose or somthing, so I run it by Advanced auto parts and they pull a P1405 out of it, then tell me they have no info on it.
so after a google search, I get, P1405 DPFE Upstream Hose Off Or Plugged....
lucky for me, a gentleman is standing at the counter and says, hey buddy, I'm a mechanic...whats the issue? I explain it to him and he states that yes it is a very common Ford issue. two hoses come from the EGR to a sensor mounted under the engine cover (5.4l 2000 expy) he tells me to pop the hood, and grabs the hose. as he runs his hand down it he say "oh, here it is" the end of the hose is blown right next to the intake...2$ fix.
I couldnt thank him enough...asked the wife for a 20 to buy the guy dinner and before I could get back out, he was gone. He saved me alot of trouble,and if I wasn't mechanically inclined...alot of money. Hats off to ya dude.
