2006 Expy 5.4. This is a little frustrating and wondering if it is just to be expected with these types of engines. The engine runs fine and has run good since we bought it with 80k on the clock.

BUT, the pedal/throttle feels like there is no in between or gradual build area. It's either go or no-go. It's quite annoying in parking lots or trying to inch into a parking space. I thought the throttle may be sticking a little and I just needed to clean it up, but no dice. The idle RPMs are at or about 550 - 600 which is normal. Any ideas or am I just crazy and this is common.

I have noticed this on the work trucks. Not as bad on the 5.4 but very noticeable on the V10! I dont have the problem. Might try cleaning the TB!

You could try replacing the TPS. On the 3v they do more than sense where the throttle position is. It is also responsible for IAC. Could be why it runs rough.
