well I'm getting from the dealer at Apache in Everett I can't tow anything about 7000 pounds..Man would I love to get some correct info from Dealers

My trailer is a 2011 KZ MXT 301. Its 35' long and GVWR is 8800lbs. It's a big trailer and my truck pulls it fine.

Depending on whether or not you have the HD tow package on your Expedition will determine what you can tow. I have the towing package so I'm good at 9200lbs.

well 07..my Manual indicates I can tow between 9 and 9200k with a class 3 tow hitch so I guess I'm good to go

What the manual says doesn't mean anything. You need to look at the sticker on your door and see what gearing you have then see if you have a 7/4 pin wiring harness. Not sure if your year came with a brake controller or not but if so see if you have one of those.

My manual says mine can tow 6000lbs or 9200 with the HD towing package. It doesn't tell me what my truck came with when I bought it.

Bought a 20 ft car hauler last week and this week got the project car buttoned up for the most part. Have to take it to the shop for some exhaust work then it'll be ready for its tow to mustang week in myrtle beach next month.

Just bought a Kubota BX23S sub-compact TLB w/ tiller, box blade, 4 ft bush hog on an 18 ft equipment trailer. Luckily had the HD towing package w/ brake controller.

Successfully made the trip from Kentucky to Myrtle Beach for Mustang week (about 1200 miles round trip) with zero issues. This truck continues to amaze me for the price. I really want a F150, but I can't justify it since this thing has been so solid over the past 2 1/2 years.

We made it from Katy, TX to Branson, MO and back with no issues pulling our new 2017 Moomba Mojo.

I'll be honest, when the passes came into view, she wasn't too pleased to be pulling this but she made it from Enumclaw to Leavenworth, over two mountain passes with 31 feet and about 6500lb in tow!

I have towed a 31' Keystone Cougar with dual slides. Empty weight around 7,100. Probably loaded in the 8,500-9,000 lb range. I have towed it with a 2005 Expedition, 2009 Expedition and now a 2016 Expedition. With the exception of the squat on 2005 and 2009, the Expeditions have handled the weight with no problem. However, squat was always an issue. I researched the heck out of it and found that there is really no solution. Maybe stiffer springs, but that brings other issues. Because of the coil-over-strut design, no aftermarket air suspension is available. My 2016 I ordered with the new self-leveling Nivomat style shocks. They work perfectly! Hitch up, it squats. After a few miles driving, the shocks level the truck perfectly. The Nivomat design is completely stand alone-no wiring, pumps, electronics. Just the shock. This is a long shot, but I wondered (when I had the 2009 Expy) if the shocks could be purchased and installed on an earlier model Expedition. I'm not sure who could answer that question, but it is the simplest solution that I never attempted.

The local Ford dealer is telling me that I cannot get the nivomat shocks for my 2015 (mine came with the standard rear suspension). Can you take some pictures of where your struts bolt onto the control arms so I can compare them? Thanks!

I don't have Nivomat Shocks but they are a self contained unit and should swap in place of your traditional rear shocks no problem. If however, you have the CCD (Continuously Controlled Damping Suspension which was paired with the 22" wheels), then converting to the Nivomats would be more difficult.


You'll need two of each of the Load Leveling:

• Shock Absorber
• Spring
• Dust Shield
• Insulator
• Upper Mount
• Bushing
• Washer
• Top Nut

to build two complete left and right rear LL shock assemblies.



They all come as individual parts so you would have to assemble each one and then slip in it.

How many RPM were you up to when going uphill? MPG? That's a mighty big trailer.
