Im gonna ask a question that will make you guys know Im stupid but Im an old carburator mechanic and I dont know shit about these computers, but when you do and engine build up for one of these things what do you have to do to the computer if anything to make it run the modified engine??![]()
If you radically modify the vehicle such as installing lightning supercharger, changing injectors or cam you do need a custom tune as 99 expy mentioned. I plan to do this mod also and this was recommended to me by a local tuner that can set me up.

For mild mods such as cold air intake and exhaust the computer, if it is mass air based, is very good at compensating for it and it is not necessary. But of course there is almost always more powered to be gained by custom programming as the factory must program for worst case scenarios. Imagine a 105 degree day running 87 octane with a/c running full blast towing a 5,000 pound boat in heavy traffic.
