Hey. New To The Forum, And Kind Of New To Expeditions. My DD and My Wifes DD are Both Jeeps. I've Been A Jeep Guy All My Life, Did Drive 98 Taurus For A While. But Overall, Pretty New To Fords.

So Here's The Deal, My Mother Is Getting Rid Of Her 2004 And Buying Another 2004. The New One Is In Excellent Shape And Wicked Low Miles For The Year. Her Old 04 Has 220K+Miles On It, And The Body Is Falling Apart (Thank You NY Winters) But The Engine And Transmission Are Still In Great Shape. I Was Thinking Of Taking It And Putting A Plow On It To Do My Yard And Maybe My Neighbors Yard.

I Know I Know, Ford Motor Company Does Not Recommend You Put A Plow On Expeditions Or F150S. I Realize That. I Also Know People Plow Commercially With Both. So With That Being Said, What Do You Guys Recommend? Is There A CErtain Plow I Should Consider? What About Upgrading The Front Suspension? (sSwapping In F-250 Suspension For Example?)

Thanks In Advance For Any Help Or Words Of Advice!

It Is 4WD. Will I Need To Worry About Having Sandbags Or Anything For Weight In The Back Over The Rear Wheels You Think?

No you will not have to worry about it are expys are heavier then f150 and are weight is even front and back unlike the f150. Only if you want to plow a mountain of snow 10-14 feet high that would be a challenge. Just have to get use too it at first , learn how much you can plow then it will be a breeze

I would never use anything less than a 3/4 ton rating for a snow plow, but you know that and
brought to the forum's attention what Ford says in the manual----Don't plow with your Expedition.
Having said that, it's your Expedition and not your daily driver, so why not? You're only going up and
down your driveway and not using it professionally, where you'd surely bend the frame in no time.
I've seen these ridiculous snow plow thingies for unibody Jeep Cherokees and small Toyota pickups
from maybe Northern Tool or HF and just shake my head. Any Expy is tougher than that. Keep in
mind that a 2004 is second generation with a hydro formed frame that Ford claims to be 75% stronger
than 1rst generation, which Big Green Ford had no problem with

Are you going to plow commercially or just a few times over the season?

I don't think those lightweight residential plows will hold up to heavy use. But you may be able to find a used Meyers or something that will do the trick.

Not Plowing Commercially. But More Than Just A Few Times During The Season. I Live Between The Base Of The Adirondack Mountains And The Tug Hill Plateau. So We Get Quite A Lot Of Snow Each Year!
