I have a 97 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition .
Ok I was driving to the Store when he cut off on my . Lucky i wasn't far from home and got someone to push me back home. I spent the week going through the truck checking Fuse and relays.

Truck cranks with no problem but won't fire.
Sprayed with starter fluid and it fired .
I checked the Fuel pump relays and fuse ,they have power to them and they aren't blown.
even banged on the fuel tank and checked the fuel pump shut off switch ,it hadn't been popped out.
Gave the fuel pump some power with my power probe3 and nothing.
is it possible for that switch to prevent the fuel pump from starting if it went bad.

Also wanted to know what all would i need to replace the fuel pump? anyone have a Tools list?
I already bought the new fuel pump ( not the whole assembly just the pump)

Just looking for some help with this.

Thanks

I had my fuel pump not engage twice on my explorer.... both after sitting a few days but during stretches of 2 months of little use (1-2 a week around the block).

First time, i banged on tank yet nothing.... then a friend came by with full scan and said he sent a full 14 volts to pump and it started..... ran and started with no issues (after that day) for a full year.

Second time of little use... it started after a a few bangs on the tank.

Have you a fully charged battery?

I have a belief these pumps are solid, just need to be told who made who every once in awhile.

I changed mine. Don't get an Airtex pump. It'll be tempting due to price, but it won't last long.

Yeah, did mine about a year ago. Not too hard of a job. Pump the fuel out to make it easier. I went with a Denso 950-0143 Fuel Pump I got on Amazon. Forgot to mention that if you drop the spare tire, it makes it much easier.
