As much as I’m a fan of it I don’t think we will see the new 7.3 “big block” in a half ton, it’s a heavy duty brute made for torture that these trucks will never see. And it’s thirstier. It uses the same style piston rings as the turbocharged engines use and also has a forged steel crank with forged pistons. Basically Ford made the 7.3 big in displacement, lower compression ratio, forged internals and forced induction grade parts with no actual forced induction. Recipe for Toyota level longevity lol. I will say I never thought we’d see the day a big block V8 gets 15+ MPG, but that’s what owners of them are reporting. Which is very impressive.
