So I have a 2002 4x4 XLT. My side view mirrors are not working completely. When I try to adjust them, they will only move inward or down, but not up or outward. Any ideas as to whats wrong with them? Can I just replace the mirror switch? I hope its that easy…
Thanks.

do you hear a clicking when you try to adjust them? mine are angled so far down if I bump the glass and manually adjust the glass they will only move a tiny bit... I have to push the glass in the direction i want it to move... then they have full range of movement again

No, no clicking that I can hear. They move, just only in certain directions… Would swapping out the whole switch fix it?

Usually, if both of them are behaving the same way, it is the switch. If only one is malfuntioning, it could be wiring to that particular mirror or the motor itself. Or, as walnuts suggested, the mirror was "overextended" and can't get back to it's normal operating range.

Yeah, I wound up just buying a new switch on eBay for $15. I checked to make sure they weren't over extended. And it wasn't that, so I'm just assuming it's the switch, fingers crossed!!
