I have a 99 expedition eddie bauer. If I had realized that eddie bauer meant Lincoln Navigator
In disguise I would have searched for another model..... not looking forward to letting Ford change the spark plugs on this one.....

I have the awd transfercase and my 4wd light is flashing. I am hoping this goes away when I do away with the airride like it did in the navigator but in that case the 4wd light only came on when the suspension light came on. Right now in the expedition its on independant of the suspension light. It feels like its locked in 4wd all the time..... absolutely no difference between awd and 4wd when the light is flashing..... hard steering, tire scrub...... when the light is not flashing then it steers normally and no tire scrub. When I turn the switch to 4wd the light goes out but its still in 4wd so I have hard steering and tire scrub. I assume this means the tcase control clutch has an issue. I read on another site dealing with explorers there is what's called "the brown wire mod" which turn the tccc off completely thus giving you a 2wd setting. Is there such a mod for the expedition? Or do I need to find a 2wd tcase and gem from an f150 or swap to a manual tcase?

Found my answer ....... brown wire mod is good to go. Now if I could just find a decent suspension lift that plays nice with the strutmaster coil spring conversion.

Yep. brown wire mod is the way to go. I'm wondering though if you have a problem with your tcase shift motor not engaging or disengaging the way it should, let us know how the mod winds up. Also, all you should have to do is purchase lift spacers for the rear and turn the torsion bars for the front to lift. I have the Monroe conversion and I'm told it's not different to lift than stock.
