You bet an S/C will work on the truck, just a question of effort and $$$

As for transmission, check the code on your door plate. If my google research is right (I am new to the Expedition game/family myself), there were 2 different transmissions available - the 4R100 and the lighter duty 4RW70.

It is my understanding that the 4R100 came with the 5.4L's while the 4.6's got the 4RW70.

But those of yoiu who know for sure, please correct me if I am wrong...

1: Yes for supercharger. Many to choose from and [Tom] et al can virtually assist as well as other posts/write-ups on here.

2: Trans should be an E4OD (purchased my EXPY in May 1997). Pic is of aftermarket pan.

Yes you can supercharge your expy.

The question is what is available for the 97 expy's. I believe much of the aftermarket stopped making kits for the 1st generation 2v expys long ago.

Ford lightning setups are harder to come by but they do come up for sale occasionally. You really need to get the complete upper supercharger assembly if at all possible. The more the better and less costly in the long run. The supercharger by itself is practically useless so don't waste your money.

The problem with the lightning setup is it was designed for the PI headed 5.4's. Not sure of compatibility with non-pi heads that come on the 97. Now you can swap to PI heads but that raises the compression ratio to near 10 to 1 which will not work well with a supercharger on pump gas. You can always pull your motor and drop in some low compression forged pistons and build it up to your desire while your at it.

All comes down to your goals, budget, and a little luck finding the parts you need.
