rear brakes not working 03 eddie bauer 4x4 5.4liter....2 mo. ago front pad wear indicator sounding...replaced front pads, calipers, rotors, and caliper brackets... inspected rear components at that time also...caliper pistons and pins free, rotors within spec. pads had limited wear, changed pads anyway...over the last two months excessive heat and wear on front brake components rims/wheels excessive dust...rear wheels ,components show no signs of wear...look like they did when i replaced pads 2 mo ago...no obvious leaks in brake system components from master cylinder to calipers all the way around... no fluid loss in resevoir...no dash indicator lights lighting...pedal not spongy just seems to have excessive travel compared to other trucks i drive and have driven. excessive pedal travel was there before i did any work on brakes 2mo ago and hasnt changed after work mentioned was done...could this be a proportioning valve in master cylinder? should i bleed the system again?...I did notice a square plastic black box approx.6in. next to radiator and below air breather assembly on drivers side that all brake lines hook into before going out to calipers... what is this box? and is there a way to check if it is doing what its supposed too? any help greatly appreciated...approx. half of my driving highway and the other half city...no towing

This could be normal. It burns through fronts at 3-4x the rear rates. Also start using ceramic pads - no dust!
