OK, anyone more familiar with Hollander interchange numbers & notes want to stick their neck out & confirm I'm reading & following the logic here correctly?
I've got a late 05-06 diff with a 3.75 gearset.
The Hollander interchange number for it is: 440-01383C
The 03-early 05 3.75 Hollander number is: 440-01383B
In trying to figure out if these 2 interchange what I think I'm seeing is they will swap if you use the 06 cover on the earlier diff.
I found another 06 diff (the 3.31) listed as: 440-01383D & that one includes the following "interchange notes"
|A| fits; difference is cover.
|B| fits; difference is ratio and cover.
|C| fits; difference is ratio.
("A" is the 03-early 05 3.31 gear)
So, if I'm comparing "B" & "C" & I'm following this correctly, I can use the early diff in an 06 by swapping the covers. Correct?
I'm starting to hear the tell-tale signs of bearing/gear noise in the Navi when I've got the window open. Just replaced both rear bearings & the brakes so I know they aren't the culprit. I can get a good diff out of an 04 with only 80K on it locally for a couple hundred & I'm too old to care about tearing rear ends apart anymore. Cheapest/easiest option is just grab another one & have the local shop do a swap.
