Rear Seat Microphone?

I just brought home a 2022 King Ranch Max. Above the third row, next to the light, there appears to be a microphone. Is that what it is? We can’t seem to get it to work or find any settings for it.

Looks like a planned feature that could be added either the Ota updates. There's no intercom app in your sync 4?

Haven’t discovered the app yet if it exists. Still trying to understand everything in the 15 inch screen. The built in owners manual is not easy to use. I’ve only had this thing for less than 12 hours so I still have a lot of discovery to do.

About to say this too, my guess is it helps determine ambient noise when pairing your phone to the vehicle.

I have the exact same piece on my 2021 limited. It is my understanding that only the platinum's got ANC (active noise cancelation) so I don't think it's a microphone for that. I also don't think it has anything to do with ICC (inter car communication). Is it possible that it is part of the occupant detection system?

My 2019 XLT max has it as well. I seem to remember an old thread that discussed this piece.
