Hi there, I have two boys ages 2 and 9 months, they are too young to listen to the DVD through the provided headset, is there some way to allow the boys to listen to a DVD through the rear speakers and listen to a CD or the radio up front? Anybody able to help?

if i tried this, i would cut some earphone wires in half and seporate the wires and connect them to an aftermarket speaker and make a custom enclosure and walah! dvd for kids and radio for you, if you fade it to the front. i know its hard to explain but thats what i would try

Without a good bit of re-wiring, probably not. The DVD unit sends the audio to the headunit, then to the rear of the console, and back to the headunit for distribution to the speakers. You would most likely lose the ability to listen to the DVD audio to the rest of the speakers if you were to accomplish this.

Now that I think about it, I believe the output from the DVD is for left and right speakers only, so there wouldn't be any distinction for front and rear to make this work. Your best bet is an aftermarket in-dash unit that has the capability for zone distribution. Kenwood makes a few that can do that.

I can't remember if there is a headphone jack on the front of the DVD unit. If there is, I would find a pair of wired headphones that fit the kids and use those.

Thanks you guys....I'm getting tired of Barney...lol! I have a DVD player that attaches to the back of my seat, but it skips and doesn't work as well as the stock Ford one does, maybe I'll have to look into a better quality one unti the little punks get a bit bigger. Thanks

Just get a pair of speakers that are meant for MP3 player and plug them into the headphone jack. Then run the wires wherever you want amd mount them. Use headphone extension wires if you have to.
