Funny....just in time.......
My 2019 has the bubbling problem that was present when I bought Tank last year. I was recently thinking of pulling the chrome tape off but havent as of yet....it's just chrome metal tape but if it comes loose/unattached, touched wrong will cut you like a razor blade.....
Now Tank is gonna get a new console !!!!!!:rockit:
Was just looking at a Ford parts breakdown of the console....hard to determine if the affected part is separate or integral to the console........

According to recall, the dealership has to inspect this to make a decision. This console will be on backorder, I think. The question I have is: what if the owner paid for a replacement and had the new piece reinstalled? Will they get reimbursed? As for my console, it is starting to crack and will peel.

Looks like the part is called Console Trim Panel and runs anywhere $250 to $300 depending on which dealer it comes from.

Ironic that $1.57 worth of chrome tape applied wrong is gonna cost Ford millions to fix.......

Ford has led the USA in the number of safety recalls and the number of vehicles recalled for years.

In 2025, Ford set a record for the highest number of vehicle safety recalls.

I would guess that the financial costs for the recalls (total costs - not just the part and dealer labor) would be more than a billion US dollars? And - you cannot put a cost on the ill-will that the defects generate with their customers.

The recall notice says...

Remedy

A remedy is not yet available. Ford Motor Company is working to provide parts for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available in the 1ST quarter of 2027.

Hmmmm...I took my 2023 XLT Max for service just before the 36K mile mark a few weeks ago and complained about the bubbling. The dealer took photos of the bubbled chrome, but I've never heard back from them. Something to look forward to, I guess.
