Hi,
The chrome on my grille guard is cheap and now rusting from our winters. Does anyone know a good way to rechrome it or some kind of chrome paint they had good results with. Much appreciated.

I have tried Duplicolor's 'chrome' spray paint before. It did not work nearly as well as I had hoped. Depending on the amount of rust on the grille guard, you may be able to sand off the rust and use this chrome spray paint over the bare metal. It works best if you use it very lightly and use a spatter technique.

Maybe you will get different results since you are using it on a different surface.

Best bet would be to either get the grille guard re-chromed or have it painted or powdercoated.

If the rust is really bad, though, it might be worth buying a new grille guard, all together, since professional re-chroming, painting, and powdercoating are all expensive, generally.

Maybe the manufacturing can send you replacement parts under warantee.

Good luck!

It's cheapy ebay stuff so warranty isn't a go lol. The rust is mostly near the welds, I guess the chrome didn't get in there very well. It's just surface rust though. I've got some kind of rust remover solvent that I used once on it and it worked well, maybe i'll use that and touch it up with a brush. I'll have to see how much a rechrome is.
