2019 Ford Expedition, 122K.

Looking to install a remanufactured 10R80. Who here has had success with a 10R80 reman?

Ive got a quote from Fraser for 3700 before core, and a local shop quoted 5500 for a Jasper.

thanks in advance.

I would not get a reman except from Ford to make sure it has the new updated CDF drum and anodized garbage can (forgot the technical name haha). These parts introduced in 2023-2024.

Another option is to rebuild with the new parts. There is a shop in Alabama called Flying Wrenches which is popular in YouTube. I think they rebuild for $3,500 with the latest and greatest parts.

Ford will warranty the trans for 3 years 36.000 miles. Does Jasper? I don't know. Ford will also pay labor if the rebuilt trans fails. I have purchased 2 rebuilt trannys from Ford in the past and had good luck with both. Flying Wrenches has a youTube channel and appears to do quality work. You might also look up YouTuber Makeyouloco who is near Chicago, he also appears to do quality work.

I know the price is steep, but I feel like I've seen others comment on rebuilds costing them close to this or maybe even more. Only additional cost to this would be the R&R of the original transmission.

I wonder if this an option for us since it's a 10R80 and it includes every rebuild trick I think there is out there. I would spend it if it meant a buy once cry once, one and done scenario.

2020 Expy XLT. I got a remanufactured 10R80, with all the updates, from Jasper in December of 24. I have put 1800 miles on it now and it is performing beautifully. I took off from Indiana within a few days of getting it out of the shop. I held my breath going, heavily loaded through the Smokey Mountains but it held a nice temp the whole 1000 miles. I think Jasper puts out pretty quality work. I live about 40 miles from their plant.

I was under the impression that the transmission fluid level is different based on the application - that is 10R80 transmissions are not all the same in that regard.

How do these shops/installers handle that?

Im scared to bring my expy to the dealer and have them change out the tranny fluid. I feel they wont do it corrently and make things worse. But then again I really shouldnt go 150,000 miles before changing it. Man
