Removing eddie baurer pinstripe

Hey guys so I'm looking to remove the eddie bauer stripe that goes down the sides of the truck. Anyone done this? If so what's the best way to go about doing it?

I think 3m makes an "eraser" that fits in a die grinder that takes them off. You can use a heat gun and a razor blade but that can be harmful to the finish.

Blow dryer, and a little patience is what I removed pinstriping with. Any glue residue can then be removed with Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover or something similar.

+1 on caution w/ heat gun
+1 on a good 1600 watt hairdryer and then the adhesive remover...might take several attempts, then compound/wax as req'd to try and blend in w/ the rest.

i did it with a hair dryer...put it on and get it warma and pull off...too easy

what are you talking about? after the stripe gets chip'd? no one has a replacement due to it being vynil

Yeah, I'm talking about the vynil stripe getting chipped and/or peeling. I'd like to replace mine, not just remove it, but I haven't been able to find anything similar to the original. I just thought that someone here might have had better luck at that than me.

You could remove it with the hair dryer, then the residue remover as everyone else said. Best results to replace would be to go to a body shop or ask your local dealer who they use for striping. You can get a car hand pinstriped (paint, not tape) for a few hundred dollars and it wil look much nicer than factory.

My pinstriping was all chipped as well. I removed it using the quick detailer stuff. then when the stripe was wet I removed it using my thumbnail. It took a while, but not too bad. After the striping was removed, I clay bar'd the remaining residue. It took two or three attempts but it is all gone now.

My paint is so faded and cloudy, it would leave a noticeable mark once removed. I would definitely have to replace it with something, but would rather not use actual paint unless I had the car buffed and resprayed first. I wonder if a vinyl shop could make a one-off run of a graphic like that. I'll probably just leave it alone and not worry about it, but the topic made me curious.

Just an FYI you can order a new stripe kit from Ford. Each side goes for about $68 (covers from the front fender to the rear quarter)

You can buy pinstriping at any store with an automotive department for under $10. But most graphic shops can do some pretty interesting stuff. This is what i put on my Expy a few years ago to cover up the previous owner's business graphics. It didn't last too long though. Started flaking off about 2 years later. But I got alot of comments on it while it was on there. Now I just make my own stripes and stuff out of heavy duty vinyl. It lasts forever...





This is what I did on my Trep with some heavy vinyl from the Automotive store, and some cheap pinstriping from WalMart. Turned out pretty nice.
