Guys, I am getting ready to install a Pioneer 3200BT in my '01 and was wondering about replacements for the stock speakers. I did search, but perhaps I did not go back far enough.

I do not need super high end sound. I am just looking for good sounding upgrades from my 10 year old stock speakers and I would prefer to not break the bank, either.

Any help is appreciated.

any sub in the same size will do...its your pick...are you wanting bass (connected to amp)? this will however, come down to preference...ebay has a lot of low cost 'name brand' subs...and more unpopular brands...you can also check "thedeepdiscount"...ENDLESS

5x7's in both the front and rear doors. I have always liked Boston Acoustic personally because they still sound great off just deck power and I also like that they sound clean and clear at lower volume as well as high volume. Some of the others get reall muddy at low volume and I usually have at least one kid in my ride with me. Ebay usually has some great deals.

I went into an Al & Eds the other day because I want to upgrade my sound system in my Expedition and my Lightning. Played around with a bunch of different set-ups, and I found that the Rockford Fosgates P1572/R1682 speakers sounded really good. Especially once used with an amplifier. There were some Alpines that were a close second, but I wasn't that interested in them so I didn't take down the model number.

i like my kenwood 5x7s. sound great at all levels. my deck how ever puts too much bass to the speakers and not a lot to the sub. its just the deck cause when i had my stock deck they were great at all volume. but i would do it again i would get 6x8s. they will fit in there and sound better. or you can get some component speakers with the separate tweeter. i put mine on the little corner piece on the doors. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i75_6--x-8--component-systems.html pricey but well worth it. im saving up for some once i get my new deck, amps, wiring, and subs and box made. or just get some 6x8 speakers. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i38_6--x-8--speakers.html works just as well.

Thanks for the tips, guys.

bhsoulja, I have no amp, and am not tooworried about bass. The speaker will just be powered off the deck. My stock setup is the factory radio (non Mach) with the 6 disc changer in the console. The changer hadn't worked since I bought the truck a year ago, so I took it out of the console.

Petrini, I always usually have at least one of the kids with me, so I am in the same boat.

I am not a huge audiophile, but I do want to upgrade the stock speaker since I am putting in the aftermarket head unit. Hoping to do the head unit this weekend, along with the Pioneer XM interface. I'm gonna love getting rid of the little XM radio.

I just got these kenwoods for my 01 expy and couldnt be happier. They have great highs and seem A-OK for my purposes. only 41 and free shipping is a price thats right too! I actually went back to the small radio. I loved the functionality and itegration with the ad-on sirius unit, but since the pioneers have the line in, the signal is extremely clear now and the sportster units are free vs a 150-200 dollar investment.
